Designers, ISPs, Communities...
Affiliate with Clark IP!
Clark IP has two affiliate programs known respectively as the designer and venue programs.
In the designer program, a qualified web designer replaces the Sitemaker team as the provider of text and graphics support services and of technical support for clients whose sites are created under the designer's auspices. A designer can support a single site or can function as an account manager with multiple sites.
The venue program is intended for businesses or organizations that need to provide sites to their constituents. E.g., a church might provide family sites to its parishioners, a school to its teachers or students, or a mortgage or realty brokerage to its loan officers or agents. Each venue is required to maintain a contractual minimum number of users and to arrange for design services from among its own resources or arrange a fee-based support program with Clark Internet Publishing. The venue must provide all services associated with the ISO and designer programs. Interested parties should contact Clark IP for more information on venue programs.
The programs can overlap depending on the interests, skills and clientele of the affiliate. All programs require a basic understanding of the nature of the service and experience with the Internet, web site development, and business to business sales. All affiliates are independent sales organizations (ISO) and are not agents or employees of Clark Internet Publishing Inc. Generally our affiliate-selection citeria favor business skills over design skills.

Benefits
In addition to the obvious benefit of new revenue, Sitemaker provides new and useful ways for affiliates to develop relationships with their existing clientele and new prospects.
Designers may wish to take advantage of Sitemaker to provide a large number of low-maintenance sites to develop recurrent core revenue to supplement intermittent design projects. Many small sites that might previously have required laborious coding can be supported in Sitemaker. OR Sitemaker can be used for rapid prototyping to develop content for export to other platforms.
Venues can build member loyalty by providing the valuable benefit of a web site to their constituents. Even those with existing professional sites will appreciate the opportunity to identify with their organization or business.
All affiliates are encouraged to submit design suggestions and templates for incorporation into Sitemaker's growing set of appearance options. All adopted templates become available to all Sitemaker users and increase the utility of the product for all. |
Compensation
You can choose to be a sales representative or a full-service affiliate (keep reading). In the affiliate program, most of your revenue will come from fees for services you provide to your clients, such as design, editing, graphics and consultation on site organization and the flow of information and work. You are free to set your own fees for such services, and all such revenue is yours to keep.
The affiliate program also provides for a commission on the sale Clark IP services, including monthly publishing service revenue (residuals) and services we provide directly to your clients. Compensation is generally twenty percent of monthly publishing fees and on creative or technical service fees if you or your clients need our help or intervention to add or repair content. Minimum levels of sales and retention are required to receive residual commissions.
Example
A typical client purchases services that can be divided into (1) publishing and (2) design. Assume you provide eighty percent of the design, writing and graphical support and publish the site through Clark IP using Sitemaker and/or Journalmaker. Clark IP bills your client electronically for monthly publishing fees. Clark IP bills you for the occasional creative support we provide to your client (through you!), and we "pay" an effective commission by discounting our rate to you. From your perspective, including Clark IP as a "cost" to you even where paid directly.

"Publishing" includes hosting and domain administration. Domains must be transferred to our registrar, and we must have administrative control of DNS settings in order to balance server loading. Values in table are for illustration only. No compensation or commission is paid for certain cost-based charges, e.g., registration services or storage and bandwidth surcharges.

Program Details
- Experience
- Each applicant must submit evidence of experience selling Internet products. This may include hosting, design and/or publishing services.
- Professional Presence
- Each design affiliate must maintain a Sitemaker account. This assures that the affiliate will be experienced in the use of the system and able to provide the appropriate level of service to his or her clients. Each affiliate must maintain a telephone number and be available during at least ten hours weekly for consultation with clients. The schedule of available times must be published on the affiliate's site.
- Presentation
- In presenting services to prospective clients you must identify those elements of any service that will be provided by Clark IP. Recurring monthly payments must be made by the client directly to Clark IP for such services unless we otherwise agree by prior arrangement. You must not represent yourself as the designer or developer of services, techniques or features that are provided by Clark IP.
- Application
- Applicants must submit an application form and the addresses of three sites (Sitemaker or other) for which they have had primary responsibility.
- Procedure
- To qualify for compensation, each new site must be set up via the affiliate's own Editing Suite. Sites created by end users from public interfaces will not qualify for compensation. The ease with which sites can be instantly created by affiliates is intended to minimize the possibility that clients will bypass affiliates after a personal presentation.
- Quotas
- To qualify for residual compensation based on monthly service fees, the affiliate must sell a minimum number of new accounts per month OR maintain a minimum number of continuing accounts. In each case the less restrictive requirement shall govern.
Simple Commissions
If you would rather just represent us and not be a content developer, we pay commissions for referrals and sales. Our commission structure is as follows:
- Five percent (5%) of the initial sale value for a simple referral.
- Ten percent (10%) of the initial sale value when you bring the contract and down payment.
- Twenty percent (20%) of the initial sale value when you deliver the contract along with all the needed source materials (text and graphics) - plus ten percent of ongoing publishing revenue from your clients, payable annually. (Publishing revenue excludes creative services and surcharges on bandwidth and storage.)
