Maxine Mimms Academies strive to break down educational and economic barriers for teens and young adults. Our original emphasis focused on students who had either been suspended or expelled or have dropped out of Tacoma, Washington, public schools. Since 2012 we have been developing additional criteria regarding workforce development, post-traumatic stress disorder and urban agriculture. Our curricula for urban agriculture and student re-engagement are available for implementation anywhere.
